The legal, governance, compliance and company secretarial health of Seplat Energy PLC and its various subsidiaries across Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Skill and experience

Edith joined Seplat in 2019 as the Company Secretary/Chief Governance Compliance Officer and by 2021 succeeded to the position of Director Legal/Company Secretary. She has over 24 years of extensive experience in the legal profession, ranging from strategic legal advisory to boards of directors and executive teams to overseeing the legal affairs of companies operating in the Energy and Cement industries. She has a deep understanding of corporate governance and regulatory compliance, and has a proven track record of delivering complex commercial agreements and closing high-value deals.

Prior to Seplat, Edith served as the General Counsel/Legal Director of Lafarge Africa Plc, a position that she succeeded into after serving as the Company Secretary/Legal Adviser of Lafarge WAPCO; Country General Counsel/Public Affairs Director of the Lafarge group companies in Nigeria; and a wide range of other senior leadership roles. She holds law degrees and professional certificates from Nigeria and the UK, including Fellow (FCArb) of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (NICArb); Associate of the Chartered Governance Institute (UK); and Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN).
